Hi! I am Chiara Bozzone,
a classicist and historical linguist.

HOMER and oral poetics

My research applies insights from contemporary linguistics and cognitive studies to Homer's oral traditional poetry. I've written  on formularity, meter, syntax, and Kunstsprache. I'm also interested in applying quantitative methods to  the Homeric question.

My book Homer's Living Language is out now!

INdo-European LINGUISTICS

I am particularly interested in the reconstruction of the PIE verb, with the help of grammaticalization theory and linguistic typology. I have also worked on Greek historical phonology, morphology, and syntax.

TEACHING

I've taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of Classics, General Linguistics, Indo-European Linguistics, and Mythology.

I love using team-based approaches, creative projects, and putting too many memes in my slides.

academic productivity + Writing

I enjoy reading and talking about strategies for being more productive (and happier) as an academic, and on how to write more clearly and effectively. Here are some of my favorite resources.
